It's February 15, but this kimono was created yesterday, on Valentine's day. The unintended heart shape emerged when this Zentangle-inspired drawing was blended with a photograph of the color red. It carries a wish for peace, happiness and love for everyone.
This simple kimono shows off the texture of the beautiful paper Zentangle "tile" I used to draw the image. The repetition of the patterns from top to bottom (or bottom to top!) and the swoop of the obi remind me of the dance between heaven and earth.
Another experiment merging an iPhone photo - yes, another sunset! - with Zentangle inspired art using the pattern Florz as the background. This kimono was inspired by my recent qigong classes with Eve Soldinger and reflects the dance between heaven and earth.
Zentangle is a beautiful art form created by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts. For the last several months I have used Zentangle as part of my meditation ritual. It has brought new insights and the unexpected joy of creation by repeating a few simple lines and shapes in a meaningful way.
Today for the first time, I blended one of my Zentangle art kimonos with an iPhone photo -- of the sunset from my terrace!
