It's the end of November and the autumn leaves start to become etched in the sidewalk. Sometimes a leaf gets caught on the curb cuts and looks like a new, abstract version of the old shibori patterns created centuries ago by artisans along the old Tokaido Road.
It's amazing how many colors are in a leaf at the end of its life cycle. The border was made from all the hues I extracted from the leaf itself using the color picker in Filterstorm. (It's more fun to do this in Procreate with a Pogo Connect stylus, but the resolution is too low!)
